Medicine is a story. It was initially passed among healers through oral histories and fellowship since the beginning of time. Advances in communication have allowed us to exponentially build our body of medical knowledge.
The ability to tell a story and provide an oral history is a defining human characteristic. It has given us the opportunity to advance from a fragmented nomadic hunter gatherer society to a globalize society where we are replacing the mythologies of our fathers with science.
The exchange of the modern stories in medicine is finding its place on the Internet, and for the first time health care providers can exchange insights with the click of a mouse.
