Mitch Owens, MSPT, COMT

Co-Founder & Clinical Director, Union Physical Therapy

Mitch Owens co-founded Union Physical Therapy in 2009 with his wife, Elisa Owens, DPT, establishing an independent, therapist-owned practice designed to deliver the highest standard of outpatient care in Seattle. Practicing in the Pacific Northwest since 2004, Mitch has shaped Union PT into a collaborative center where clinicians and patients alike benefit from an unyielding commitment to one-on-one appointments without the use of aides or assistants.

A clinician, educator, and mentor, Mitch believes that exceptional therapeutic outcomes stem from rigorous clinical reasoning, advanced manual assessment, and objective functional diagnostics. His personal clinical practice focuses on complex spinal disorders, vestibular and cervicogenic dizziness, and high-performance athletic rehabilitation, having treated some of the region’s top outdoor athletes as well as professional competitors from the NHL. Mitch integrates advanced spinal manipulation, intramuscular dry needling, Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT), and the ConnectTherapy™ framework to identify primary mechanical drivers within complex cases. To further enhance objective diagnostic accuracy, he is currently pursuing the Registered in Musculoskeletal® (RMSK) credential in diagnostic ultrasound, incorporating dynamic musculoskeletal imaging into physical therapy evaluations.

Mitch’s commitment to advancing clinical practice extends into specialized community initiatives. In 2013, he founded The Climbers’ Project, Seattle’s first specialized clinical initiative providing dedicated injury prevention and rehabilitation for the regional climbing community. In 2016, he co-founded the Alpine Training Project, utilizing sports medicine research on ACL injury reduction to establish an international dryland training and conditioning system licensed by physical therapy practices across the country. Additionally, his clinical interest in axial hypermobility led to the founding of Source Physical Therapy, providing specialized diagnostic consultations for patients considering regenerative medicine procedures.

Within Union Physical Therapy, Mitch’s primary mission is fostering a culture of lifelong learning and clinical mastery. He provides active clinical mentorship, structured case reviews, and continuing education development for Union PT’s team of Doctor of Physical Therapy specialists. By maintaining a model rooted in intellectual curiosity, access to cutting-edge diagnostic technology, and dedicated one-on-one treatment time, Mitch ensures that Union Physical Therapy remains a premier clinical setting where therapists can build sustainable, high-impact careers.
